This weekend, I’m packing up the camera and heading east to Dandridge, Tennessee — a town that feels like it was built for stories. Each year, the streets fill with the sound of fiddles, the colors of tartan, and the kind of small-town energy that makes the Scots-Irish Festival something special.
For photographers, places like this are gold. Every turn offers a moment worth catching — a child dancing to a tune that’s older than they are, an old piper tuning his drones, the flash of color as a parade passes by. It’s not just about documenting an event; it’s about capturing the heartbeat of a community that celebrates its roots with pride and joy.

What I love most about Dandridge is that it still feels authentic. There’s no pretense here — just people who love where they come from and want to share it. Between the music, the laughter, and the history woven into every performance, you can feel the connection between past and present come alive.
As always, I’ll be chasing those small, unplanned moments that tell the real story — the ones that remind you a festival is more than just an event. It’s a reminder of who we are, where we came from, and the beauty that still exists in gathering together.
Stay tuned for photos and stories from the weekend.
