Light, Shadow, and the Stories We Carry

Light and shadow — two sides of the same story.
When I set up this self-portrait, I wasn’t chasing perfection. Photography isn’t always about sharp lines or flawless frames; sometimes it’s about honesty. The way the light falls, the way the shadows cling, the way the camera records what’s there without apology.
Every scar, every crease, every ounce of grit has its place. They’re not distractions — they’re chapters. Each mark tells a story about where we’ve been, what we’ve faced, and how we’ve come through it. In black and white, those details feel even louder, stripped of distraction, raw and unfiltered.
That’s why I love portraits like this: they don’t just show what you look like — they reveal how you choose to be seen. Sometimes that means strength, sometimes vulnerability, but most often it’s a mixture of both. And that’s what makes it real.
